Character Profile – Characterisation Worksheet for Literature

This product is a 2 page worksheet helping students understand characterisation in Literature. It prints as a simple double-sided handout; with an overview of the character on the front and more in-depth questions on the back. The worksheet follows the structure of “PAIRS” and encourages students to discuss and find evidence for character’s physical description, action, interiority, reactions and speech/character voice.
This character profile activity is perfect for in class or as a handout for students to take home. I recommend starting with quotes and ideas for the front page, before discussing the more complex questions on the back. By the end of the task students will have a deep understanding of their chosen characters, as well as their significance in the world of the text.
