Entrepreneurship – Build Your Business Unit with Editable Assessments and Criteria – 5 Week – Grades 7-10

5 – Week Economics Entrepreneurship unit! By the end of this unit your students will develop their own business idea and present their business plan to a group of investors!

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

• Key characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and businesses
• Investigate ideal customers and persuasive advertising techniques
• Classify revenue and expenses (fixed and variable) and make business decisions based on financial statements.
• Deconstruct a business plan to identify key structures and language features.

HOW STUDENTS WILL LEARN:
Lesson 1-5

Students will learn all the content they will require to successfully complete the assessment during the first 5 lessons. You will get a PowerPoint with a detailed lesson plan that includes Lesson Intent and Success Criteria. Along with the PowerPoint, the students will have a work booklet to complete that includes engaging, hands-on activities to reinforce the learning.

Exam (1 or 2 lessons depending on your class) EDITABLE

It’s designed to get students thinking critically, problem-solving, and applying real-world skills in an engaging way. Included is an editable criteria sheet.

Assignment (8 lessons) EDITABLE

Students are given the task (student assignment workbook included) of creating a business idea to “sell” to an investor through the creation and presentation of a business plan. Students will develop their product or service, identify their ideal customers and advertising plan, develop and research costs and income to create financial statements.

They will present their business plan to a group of investors (classmates) to persuade them to invest in their idea!

Included is a PowerPoint that introduces the assignment and has lesson checkpoints to keep students on track and motivated.
