Personification activities for literacy centres. This is a figurative language unit to teach personification: encouraging students to recognise when reading and use examples when writing. A poster and task cards.
What’s included?
- There are 32 individual task cards, a poster, a tracking/recoding sheet and answer sheets. I’ve used 2 QR Codes.
- The poster is illustrated and has a simply worded explanation, to help students to identify and use this literary element.
- Some tasks rely on illustrations and others are text-based.
- Examples of personification in context, clues and practice for students recognise and create when writing.
Understanding personification is a huge step to improving reading comprehension and writing.
Once a student understands and becomes familiar with figurative language, he/she will be able to include examples in writing tasks successfully and confidently. This knowledge also improves comprehension, making students aware that literal meanings aren’t always right.
