When teaching my students about place value, I use these mats as a way to make a connection with exchanging.
We use a variety of hands-on manipulatives such as popsticks, (then bundled with rubber bands in groups of ten), MAB ones (exchanged for tens and hundreds) or unifix cubes (then connected to make groups of ten).
So versatile and really handy to have. Plus, the robots are so cute!
