Inspiring Reading – Fluency Booklet

The Reading Fluency booklet sits within the Inspiring Reading framework, and includes multiple copies of the Reading Log and Oral Reading Fluency Scaffolds (both of which are part of the Inspiring Reading Full Set), encouraging students to read widely and supporting them to develop greater reading fluency and accuracy, with attention to oral reading skills and increasing reading rate.

The booklet can be printed and used to support or extend individual students’ reading fluency development as part of a home reading program or small group intervention. It may also be used in a whole class context, in which students pair up to listen to each other read, provide feedback and discuss their self-evaluations. Teachers may like to compile a set of 10 reading passages for each student (100-250 words at an appropriate lexile level, with the cumulative total number of words recorded at the end of each line) to simplify the process for students and parents.
