Making 10 to Subtract Subtraction up to 20

This resource provides extra practice for making 10 to subtract up to 20: making 10 to subtract 9, making 10 to subtract 8, and making 10 to subtract from 14, 15, or 16, along with mixed questions and activities such as mazes and matching activities. It helps students understand how some facts can be solved using known facts about “making 10.”

It includes:

• 7 pages of Using ten frames for Making 10 to Subtract 9, 8 and mixed questions. Students will cross counters on a ten frame to make 10, and solve the questions.

• 5 pages for Making 10 to Subtract from 14, 15, 16 and mixed questions of subtraction 2 numbers from third number, two of them make 10.

• 9 pages (2 different kinds of worksheets) for making 3 numbers from 2 numbers to make 10 and subtracting 9, 8, and mixed questions (e.g., 14 – 6 = 14 – 4 – 2 = 10 – 2 = 8).

• 4 pages of Activities – 2 mazes and 2 matching activities in both colour and black-and-white versions with answer keys – with the mixed questions of subtraction 1 digit number from 2 digit number which is up to 20.
