Resource 3: Mystery Genre PowerPoint Games : Mystery Stories for Middle School Students
Inspired by Wheel of Fortune, this bundle includes 16 interactive PowerPoint games with examples of mystery stories. There are two versions of each game that students can play as individuals or as part of a team. The “Basic Version” requires students to choose one letter at a time to help guess the name of the fantasy novel that is written behind the highlighted tiles. The “Wheel Version” is more complicated – Its overall concept is the same as the basic version, but students must spin the wheel to determine whether they can have one guess, two guesses or no guesses at all. The wheel version also has a points system where correct guesses of less common letters such as X or Z will provide students with more points than common letters such as E or T (this makes students much more strategic when guessing/choosing their letters).
This bundle also includes:
-Written instructions on how to open and use both versions of the games
-A games list
– Printable points system charts and scoreboard tallying sheets that are both editable and printable.
