Phonics Brainstorm | Beginning Sound Posters | Alphabet Letter Anchor Chart |

$3.50

Here is a pack which includes the letters A-Z and their corresponding sound. This resource can be used to create a ‘brainstorm’ and then a neat and presentable classroom display.

Teaching children the sounds of the alphabet explicitly is the key stone to teaching them to read. Learning to read and write starts with learning phonics!

Rather than asking students to provide the words they know which start with a particular sound (which tests their vocabulary rather than sound knowledge) you can provide students with examples of the sounds and ask them to listen for the given sound. They can then inform you to which poster this example belongs.

For example you might focus on the sounds /s/ and /m/. In this case you would hold up the pictures of a monkey and a sun. You would ask students to identify the beginning/initial sound of each word and then sort them into their correlating poster.

This resource ensures your classroom displays are beautifully presented with all colour images and matching words ready to print. It also includes black and white copies so that you can choose to have your students contribute to the decorating if you with.

This is an activity that can be completed as a whole class, in small groups or independently depending on your students’ abilities. You can also decide whether to focus on one letter sound, two letter sounds or any number of sounds you decide.

This is a great task to go along with learning sounds with other resources such as cued articulation.
