Real Life Functional Reading Activities SET 4

These are printable reading comprehension worksheets based on non-fiction, functional texts that students will experience in their everyday real life.

Ideal for Literacy centres because the tasks encourage reading for detail, recalling the facts: remembering and writing about their prior knowledge and experiences: predicting outcomes and forming and justifying opinions.

What’s included?

• There are 20 real-life texts. This is SET 4.
• There are 3 worksheets with tasks for each card.
• There is a tracking sheet for students to keep a record of completed work.
• On the worksheets, I have some MUST DO and some CAN DO tasks.

There are many options for writing to respond.I’ve included the CAN DO, to cater for differences in students’ interests, experiences and abilities. Depending upon time, I usually ask students to choose one or two CAN DO tasks.

The texts include craft instructions, safety rules, beach flags and signs, how to use an elevator, medication dosage and timing, trading cards, greeting cards, game instructions, vending machines, recycling, and lots more.

Some colour printing is required, but I have limited as much as possible.
