If you’re looking for a unique way to introduce the Mathematics topic of 3D shapes, then this Gallery Walk is perfect for you. You can hang the picture cards on the wall around your classroom for a true sense of a gallery walk, or you can place them on various surfaces that the kids can access. How you choose to set it up is totally up to you! Students can work individually or in pairs to prepare to engage in whole class discussions.

Students will use critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning to discover new content-rich vocabulary words as they move around the classroom from picture to picture.

How it works

1. Print and laminate one copy of the 10 picture cards.

2. Hang/place the pictures around the classroom, leaving enough room for several students to gather around each picture.

3. Make student copies of the gallery walk recording sheet and glossary. (This could also be used digitally)

4. Explain your expectations for the gallery walk and worksheet.

5. Divide students as evenly as possible amongst the 10 pictures. Students may start at any picture but must complete all 10.

6. You can set a timer for each picture, or you can allow students to work at their own pace.

7. Review correct answers as a class or with a partner.
