‘Word of the…’ Classroom Posters!
Wanting to build literacy within your classroom…including First Nations literacy? These completely editable posters are perfect in allowing you to do just that as they can be used as a reference point in the classroom to help encourage your students to use the chosen term in a variety of ways.
As well as this, you will also be able to encourage, recognise and engage with the important role that language and storytelling have for First Nation’s culture while allowing for comprehension, understanding and discussion of the complex nature of First Nations languages.

- Editable PowerPoint slides in the colour palettes BRIGHT, COASTAL and NATURAL
- ‘Word of the Week’ slides – can be edited to suit classroom context to read ‘day’, ‘week’ or ‘month’
- ‘First Nations Word of the Month’ – can be edited to suit classroom context to read ‘day’, ‘week’ or ‘month’
- Note – the COASTAL colour palette is shown in the images
Hot tip:
- Consult with local First Nations Elders for terminology to include on your classroom poster that is relevant to the country of your school and/or student context
- Check out ‘Indigenous Literacy Foundation’ on Instagram and their website for some amazing resources (they always upload a word of the month on their Instagram page) to help assist you in building Indigenous literacy in the classroom
