Teaching about adjectives can be a lot of fun and my students LOVED making these poems!
This resource is ideal as an independent activity for higher abled students, or as a small group/whole class in a directed lesson.
I usually complete this activity with a smaller directed group of my grade 2 students. Together we brainstorm adjectives under each of the 8 headings about the certain topic we have chosen (chosen from the provided 7 scaffolds). Students then independently record their chosen adjectives into the templates to create the poems. They really enjoyed this activity and were eager to read their poems aloud to the class.
This resource includes a brainstorming sheet and 7 poem templates (frogs, monsters, toys, cats, dogs, cars and dragons).
