Easter Reading and Writing Pack

Easter is a time of the year when we need to make sure we are all learning. This easter Reading and Writing pack will keep your students on task and engaged. Get then reading and writing about Easter.

Curriculum References for Aus Curriculum

Word Wall

• Print on A3 or A4 and in colour. Display the pages so that the students can see them and add to them over time.
• Brainstorm words your students know and add to the correct egg.
• This will allow you to check for sound confusion and word pronunciation.
• As you move through the Easter Unit add to the list.
• After the unit take down the word wall and make them into a book.
• The cover page can be laminated so that it lasts when used.
• This can be placed with the class dictionaries and accessed at any time.
• Or use as a book instead of a word wall – copy and bind it together.

Matching lower case letters to capitals

• Copy in colour and laminate. Cut leaving a small pink border around each card.
• Mix cards up and match
• Sequence the lowercase letters in alphabetical order and then match capitals
• Use to play memory games
• Place face down and pick one card at a time and say a word that starts with that letter or has that letter in it

Word Work

• Making lists for e, ea, double letters and er sounds.
• Go for a word walk around the room and make lists of words that you see.

Scissor Sentences

• Three pages of simple sentences.
• Cut the words from the bottom, match and glue them on top of the correct sentence.
• Draw a picture.

Writing Tasks

• Print off the relevant writing tasks. The food we eat at Easter – Celebrating Easter – What I love about Easter – Easter Egg Hunt.
• Students complete a planning picture first. Encourage quality, if the picture has detail, colour and background.
• Choose the appropriate lines for your students.
• You may have different lines for different groups depending on their writing ability.
• When the writing is complete – attach it to the planning picture and display it.
