Maths Addition Strategies Making TEN Activities

These are printable Math Centre Activities involving addition strategy of combinations of ten: and making 10 to add numbers. These are suitable for Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2. Easy to prepare! You can print and use whole sheets as worksheets, but I usually cut and laminate cards so I can re-use in Math Centres.

I have built on understanding and skills, so students can keep developing and extending.

These activities involve practising combinations of 10: adding numbers 0-20 using this strategy. I’ve included lots of variety! The activities give students the support of images to begin, and progress to numbers as they grasp concepts. You can sort the strips so students use smaller numbers, and as they gain confidence and knowledge they can progress to larger ones. Most times the answers would be written, but students who need concrete materials can mark with a button, counter, pegs etc There are some printable certificates or encouragement, too.
