Maths Tasks Numbers BEFORE and AFTER Counting 0-20

This is a printable Maths Center activity involving numeration: counting, thinking and choosing what number is BEFORE and/or AFTER a given number. Suitable for Kindergarten and Year 1, there are 168 different cards, dealing with numbers 0-20. The task is to identify the number before or after a specific number. The answers could be marked with a peg, button, counter etc but students can simply draw a circle around their answer. I have also used as a whole sheet assessment activity, and ask children to circle or mark the correct answer.
Easy prep! You can print and use whole sheets as worksheets, but I usually cut and laminate, so I can re-use.
Square cards (approx 8.7 cm square) with a number at the top, and a choice of three answers below.
What’s included? There are four sets with 42 cards for each:
0-10
- What number is BEFORE
- What number is AFTER
11-20
- What number is BEFORE
- What number is AFTER
Many children can count to ten, but they need to think about the order and counting forwards and backwards, and they need to become more familiar with the numbers, preparing them for working with number patterns. This encourages them to think.
