This printable math centre game, PIG, is the perfect way to encourage students to mentally and automatically add numbers as they roll dice, move around the 100 square, then 200 This is a dice game that can be played in pairs, small groups or the whole class.
About this game:
Players roll the dice, total and move their playing piece. The unique thing is that players don’t have to take turns! They can keep the dice as long as they want, or until they roll two ones and lose all their points. So adding, strategising and lots of thinking!
There are 3 levels of difficulty, games with 100, 200 and 300 square boards.
Students learn to recognise dice patterns, total numbers, use 100 square and consider probability has never been more fun!
There is a vast improvement in the students’ ability to quickly add the total of the dice. You can also increase the difficulty by adding more dice. Some students love to play with about 8 dice, after a while, AND they total them quickly. I love to watch them develop strategies, eg some will pair the dice to make tens, some will skip count to make the adding easier.
