Spelling and Word Building Activity BUNDLE

This is a bundle of printable Spelling activities for Literacy Centres, that encourages students to use and implement their knowledge of phonics, word and letter patterns into their spelling. These task cards provide opportunities for students to study words, write, read and think about letters and possible combinations, and still have fun! An easy activity for literacy groups, because it is an independent or small group task, with no prep.

The challenge is to see how many small words students can build, using specified letters.

What’s included? This version has Australian spelling!

There are 3 sets, which builds difficulty.

SET 1 has 40 different boards: difficulty increases

• 10 boards use 5 specific letters
• 10 boards use 6 specific letters
• 20 boards use 8 specific letters
• possible answers are included
• printable awards for winners

SET 2 has 20 boards with 10 specified letters: same activity

SET 3 has 20 boards with 12 specified letters: same activity

Instructions are on the front, so simply print and laminate. Store in plastic bag with recording sheets, or simply have students record in notebooks.

The activity caters for all levels of ability, as each child is using their own individual Spelling and vocabulary knowledge and ability.

Children love the competitiveness of this activity if you wish to make it a competition! The keyboard appeals to most ages.

This works well as a Spelling/Language group activity, a homework or early finishers challenge.
