Design and Technology Lessons – Kites

This resource includes a series of four lessons in which students learn about kites and how they’re made, and then progress from making a kite using a provided template, to making a design of their own. They will be encouraged to use their critical thinking and reflection skills along the way, and are asked to consider aspects such as function, aesthetics and sustainability when planning their own design.
The lessons include templates for the different stages of planning, design and reflection. The first lesson also includes an introductory slideshow about kites, which can be presented as a PowerPoint presentation or in Google Slides.
This resource is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and is designed for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students.
