Lesson Plan Template – Primary and Secondary – Editable

This Sass Education resource presents a comprehensive lesson plan template that is editable. The Achievement Standard and Content Descriptions from the Australian Curriculum (ACARA 2022) have already been inserted using a Year 8 exemplar.

A bonus supplementary document is included that provides ALL the Year Level descriptions, Achievement Standards and Content Descriptions in History for Years 7 -10. You can select and insert the relevant information for the unit you are studying. You can then tailor the lesson plan to your own units of study.

This template is suitable to any subject at any year level (including primary level), however, this version focuses on History Years 7 -10. It can be used by both practising teachers and pre-service teachers as it is comprehensive and conforms to academic standards expected at universities.

This lesson plan provides the following to save you time:

• the Achievement Standard and Content Descriptions from the Australian Curriculum (ACARA 2022). Accessing and recording this information is time consuming – it is done for you and can be used across every lesson plan in a particular unit of study. (Note: the Year Level Description is provided in the Supplementary Tables)
• an exemplar of lesson content is provided – this provides a generic guide of relevant content for each cell of the tables
• editable cells – replace existing content with your own
• instructions in editable text boxes that can be removed when the lesson plan is completed
• a copy of the Literacy and Numeracy General Capabilities descriptors to address in the lesson plan and links to access all General Capabilities
• reference to Cross-Curriculum Priorities and links to access them
• ALSO provides a one-page lesson plan for those of you who are busy (every teacher – right?). You can select what suits your purposes and the time frames you have to work with.
