Narrative Structure PowerPoint, Interactive Quiz and Crossword

The narrative structure resources in this bundle were designed to develop the creative writing skills of upper primary / lower secondary English students. They would be particularly useful for teachers of Creative Writing or Short Story writing units.

The resources include:

• Narrative Structure Quiz – This resource is an interactive PowerPoint quiz game (there is 1 version for students to use individually on their computers and 1 version that can be used in front of a classroom of students). Each version has a sample with sound effects and a sample with no sound. There are 10 questions in the quiz.
• A printable and interactive Scoring Sheet that students can use when completing the quiz activity has been included. The scoring sheet was initially designed to be printed and used with the classroom version of the quiz game, but has also been made interactive so students can type on it directly.
• What is Narrative Structure ? – PowerPoint file (*Includes an identical PDF version) – This resource is a printable information booklet that focuses on the following narrative structure concepts:

-Linear Plot structure

-Orientation, Complication, Climax, Resolution & Coda

-Non linear Plot structure (Parallel plots, Circular plots and Interactive plots)

– Tips for writing narrative texts

*There are 12 pages in this information booklet (11 pages of content + the cover page)

• Narrative Structure Crossword – This interactive PDF activity can be printed or typed on directly. An answers sheet is included, and a PowerPoint version of this task has been added so it can be uploaded onto Google Slides.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        – A notes page with ideas for discussing narrative structure in the classroom has also been included.

Note: While the interactive Narrative Structure Quiz can be uploaded and used on Google Slides, the sound effects will only work on the original PowerPoint files.
